I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) on an HP laptop if it makes any
difference.
I installed Streets and Trips 2010 from the retail DVD and it said it had
installed successfully but when I tried to open the program, only a message
box opened with the text:
"Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly. To
correct these settings, run Setup again for this application from the
location where you originally installed it."
I did that and selected the Repair button option. After the reinstallation
completed, I again tried to open the program but got the same message box
shown above. I then uninstalled the program and did a complete new
installation. Same resulting message box.
Again I uninstalled the program and downloaded a trial copy from the Streets
and Trips website, hoping perhaps that might be a newer patched copy that
would fix the problem I was having with the retail DVD installation. Sadly, I
experienced only the same error box when trying to open the program. A Repair
button reinstall again didn't fix the issue.
As another poster, GaryE, has recently noted, getting free support requires
the Product ID which can only be obtained from within the program. Since I
can't open the program, no Product ID and no free support.
Can anyone help me with the issue I'm having with the registry settings not
copying correctly? If not, how do I get help from Microsoft for installation
issues when no Product ID is available? Thank you in advance for any
assistance anyone can provide!
