You might try searching the help file for the word optimize. There is an
index item for 'optimize the stops on your route' in both S&T 2007 and S&T
2010, and probably in your version of S&T.
Note that optimizing time grows exponentially with the number of potential
alternate paths available. A cross country trip could take forever to
optimize if you did it all at once. If you add the stops one at a time,
then S&T will kind of optimize for each added stop, which is pretty quick.
