Is there a way to sync the reminders to "get gas" with stops at gas
stations?
Same question about rest stops. Under options you can set to take a rest
stop every 2 hours (dog needs a break). Is there a way to sync the
reminders
with stops made at gas stations or rest areas?
I can't find a way in 2008. does 2010 have a way??

Hi Lou,

I don't know how to achieve what you are asking, and I don't think there has
been any change in this area from your version 2008 and the current version
2010.

There hasn't been any way to tell Streets and Trips when you
refuel in any of the earlier versions, I don't expect it to change.
The only way I've found is to break up your trip in to several. The
program assumes you start with a full tank, so your options are to
start a new map after you fill up, or very day, if you are not driving
more than you can go on one tank.

I turn it off as a useless feature.

Doesn't you vehicle show you how many miles to empty?

Mine have always given me a guesstimate as to how much fuel
remained. In other words, the fuel gauge is analog. It was up to me to
estimate remaining travel miles, and plan accordingly.

The problem with the program is that it will estimate at fuel
usage and report 'best to have refueled by now', sometimes thirty
miles past the last gas station. Which is okay, but the next guess at
when you need to refuel, is based on starting at that first warning
point, not the point thirty miles before, when you actually did
refuel. Repeat this often enough, and you can find it "planning" a gas
stop, a hundred miles after you would have actually run out.
On long hauls, I just add a 30 minute "rest stop" every four to
five hours, and ignore that "fuel feature". It varies, because I see
no reason to stop after four hours, when I'm making a trip 4 hours and
10 minutes long.

Of course the suggestions to use the analog gas volume indicator, etc are
all clever. However, when pulling a trailer or driving a large RV not all of
the "next" gas stations are usable. Some don't have diesel.

But you did answer the question, newer versions have not added a way to sync
planned stops for gas or rest with the suggested gas stops or rest breaks.
