Is there a way to import custom POI's, such as from the POI Factory to S&T
2010?

Yes - all POI collections can be imported into S&T 2010. Choose to
download either the GPX or Garmin CSV file. In S&T press Ctrl+i
(Import Data Wizard) and browse to the custom poi file you
downloaded. Match the colums (long, lat, name) in the CSV and click
finish.
