I am considering buying S&T 2010 and am wondering when the next version will
be available. Should I wait for the new release? If I buy now will I be
able to upgrade at a discount if the new release comes out in a month or two?

Thanks for your help.

Hi CruiseMaster,

A rumor has it that the next version will release later than usually. In the
past a new version released in the fall, but this time around it is going to
be later than that.

It's been a while since this post was replied to. Is there any news yet? Does
Microsoft have a place where I can sign up to be notified when the 2011
version is released?

Hi Kurt,

You could 'Subscribe' to receive notifications of new replies to the S&T
2010 Review thread:

http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/2380-review-microsoft-streets-trips

There are now very seldom any replies to the one year old review, but I will
post a repliy there as soon as the new 2011 version becomes available.

Thanks for your help Marvin.
I see that Microsoft has lowered the price of S&T 2010 by $10. That could
be a sign of a new version coming soon. It could also be a way of saying we
will not get a cheaper upgrade price if we buy now, because it is currently
discounted.

Should I wait for the new release?
I ask myself the same question. My 2010 trial worked well for me.
Every time a new version comes out there are comments about something
that does not work any more. But the new version will have newer
maps.

Microsoft Store USA seems to have discounted the 2010 version already
(but they won't deal with me because I live in Canada, and the
Canadian Microsoft store does not sell S&T. :-( ) The real
brick-and-mortar stores I have visited have not discounted 2010 at
all.

My 2 cents.

Marvin or anyone else...

Who is selling Streets & Trips in a form that can be loaded into a Netbook that does NOT have a CD or DVD player?

Who here in North York is even selling Streets and Trips 2010 in DVD form. I haven't found anyone. I would expect a resonable price at the
end of its 'life' since 2011 has to be coming out soon. Also I know the price it sells for in the U.S. and today the exchange rate is at
about .975!

It can be downloaded (as a trial) and you then enter the key from your
purchased box.

Yes, Bob, I would do as Dee suggests. Download the 60-day free trial, use
that, and when you find a good price on the boxed version, buy it, and then
use just the activation code to activate the already installed and
functional trial version. The trial will then become the 'full' version.

There is no difference between the downloaded trial software and the
purchased software in a box. They are identical. Even the purchased boxed
version is just a 60-day trial till you ented the activation code.

In fact, the outside of the box tells you where to download it from if
you don't have a DVD drive.

If you have a home network, just share the DVD on another computer and
map it from the netbook.

That still leaves the question of where, in North York, Ontario, I can buy the boxed version! I simply have not found a retailer who has it!

I don't know North York, but here in the wilds of Edmonton I found it
at Staples for $50. London Drugs had it or $70. Future Shop was out
of stock, and I did not try Best Buy or any other place.

Good luck!
