Hi Bell,
no, I have not seen that option in S&T 2009...

I am a professional driver and often need routes setup to avoid border
crossings. Can Streets by set up to calculate routes in only the
originating country?
ie Recently I tryed to calculate a route from Fort Erie,On to Stoney Moutain
MB. Streets routed me throgh Buffalo, Chcago and MN befor getting to MB.
This route is shorter than an all Canadian route but calculates to take over
3 hours longer. I had to insert four stops before it would give the Canada
only routing.

Instead of inserting Stops, you could draw Avoid Area rectangles covering
the USA.

To set up an avoid area dooes not help. Some trips may require travel in US
and some in Canada. To cross and recross borders causes problems with
customs etc. A simple addition as a selection to close international
borders when needed would be the solution. Other programs such as PC Miler
allow this with only one click. It can be applied as needed for trip
planning. I find streets is not very user friendly for those of us that are
commercial drivers with big rigs.

Bell;
Comparing features of PC Miler, a software package created
specifically for the transportation industry, with a $40.00 mapping
product meant for the retail market is hardly fair. S&T never was nor
claimed to be a package to do commercial routings for truckers. It does
a very good job at what it is intended to do, and can even be used above
and beyond what it is meant to be. I have been guilty of using it for
unintended purposes myself. Still one has to remember that its primary
mission is for the average person planning a family vacation by car.

Very true. Yet, it only takes few mouse clicks to set up avoid area(s) to
cover (parts of) US.
