Has anybody figured out how to delete a gps trail? In prior versions,
you simply clicked on it and could delete it. In this 2010 version, I
can't seem to be able to select it at all. I realize you can start a
new map, but it doesn't help for archived maps where you have a
collection of stops that you want to maintain.

I have the same problem in 2010 and the only solution I found was to do the
following:

Export your map using the GPX export functionality. Microsoft uses an xml
scheme to store the data so you will have to edit the .gpx file you just
created. Using a xml editor (there are several free ones on download.com)
find the "trk" tag which contains the tracking information for any gps trails
that were created and included in the export. Delete the all the information
between the tags and the tag itself and save the file as a new .gpx file.
Create a new empty map and use the import GPX file data functionality and any
trails that were there before will be gone and only the pushpin data will
remain. This really is a pain in the posterior method of getting rid of gps
trails but it is the only way that I have found until Microsoft fixes the
problem. I would suggest not using the GPS trail feature and avoid the pain.
Cheers!
